WESTERN ASIA

Western Asia, sometimes referred to as the Middle East, encompasses the territory between the eastern Mediterranean coast and the western borders of South and Central Asia, bordered by the Black Sea and Caucasus Mountains to the north and the Arabian Sea to the south. The region is the cradle of some of the world’s earliest civilizations, including those of Mesopotamia, and the birthplace of three of the world’s major monotheistic religions: Judaism, Christianity, and Islam.
