UNITED ARAB EMIRATES

The United Arab Emirates is a federation of seven emirates on the southeastern Arabian Peninsula, bordered by Saudi Arabia and Oman, with coastline along the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman. It was formed in 1971 following the end of British protectorate status and has since undergone one of the most rapid urban and economic transformations in modern history, driven by oil revenues and, increasingly, by financial services, tourism, and trade.
