EASTERN ASIA

Eastern Asia encompasses the easternmost portion of the Asian continent, stretching from the Mongolian steppe in the north to the South China Sea in the south and from the Tibetan Plateau in the west to the Pacific Ocean in the east. The region has been home to some of the world’s oldest continuous civilizations and has exerted an outsized influence on global history through its philosophical traditions, technological innovations, and, in the modern era, its economic output.
