MACAO

Macao is a Special Administrative Region of China located on the western side of the Pearl River Delta, bordered by Guangdong Province and situated across the estuary from Hong Kong. It was a Portuguese territory from the mid-16th century until 1999, making it the last European colonial possession in Asia, and operates under the same “one country, two systems” framework as Hong Kong, with its own legal system, currency, and customs territory.
