PENNSYLVANIA

Pennsylvania contains Independence Hall in Philadelphia, where both the Declaration of Independence and the United States Constitution were debated and signed, making it arguably the most historically significant building in the country. The Gettysburg battlefield, site of the three-day Civil War engagement in July 1863 that produced the highest casualties of any battle in American military history and prompted Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address, and the Fallingwater house designed by Frank Lloyd Wright in the Laurel Highlands round out a state with an unusually dense concentration of landmark sites.
