TURKEY

Turkey is a transcontinental country straddling southeastern Europe and western Asia, bordered by Greece, Bulgaria, Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Iran, Iraq, and Syria, with coastline along the Black Sea, the Aegean, and the Mediterranean. It was the seat of the Ottoman Empire for more than six centuries, one of the longest-lasting and most geographically extensive empires in history, and the modern Republic of Turkey was established in 1923 following the empire’s dissolution after World War I.
