OHIO

Ohio has produced more US presidents than any other state, eight in total, and its position at the intersection of the Great Lakes and the Ohio River made it one of the most economically significant states in the 19th century, a history reflected in the remarkably preserved canal town of Roscoe Village and the industrial heritage of cities like Cleveland and Cincinnati. The Serpent Mound in Adams County, a 1,348-foot effigy mound in the shape of an uncoiling serpent, is the largest known serpent effigy in the world and one of the most significant surviving examples of Adena and Fort Ancient culture.
