SLOVAKIA

Slovakia is a landlocked country in Central Europe bordered by Czechia, Austria, Hungary, Ukraine, and Poland. It formed the eastern part of Czechoslovakia from 1918 until the Velvet Divorce of 1993 and contains a high concentration of medieval castles relative to its size, with more than 180 castle ruins and preserved fortifications spread across its territory, reflecting its historical position as a frontier zone between competing Central European powers.
