OREGON
Oregon contains Crater Lake, the deepest lake in the United States at 1,943 feet, formed roughly 7,700 years ago when the volcano Mount Mazama collapsed following a massive eruption. Its coastline, entirely state-owned and publicly accessible under Oregon law, stretches for 363 miles and includes sea stacks, tidal pools, and temperate rainforest reaching nearly to the water’s edge, while the Columbia River Gorge on its northern border with Washington contains the highest concentration of waterfalls in North America.
