NEVADA

Nevada contains the driest terrain in the United States and some of its most geologically active, with the Basin and Range Province producing a landscape of alternating mountain ranges and flat valleys that covers much of the state. Beyond Las Vegas, it offers Great Basin National Park, one of the least visited national parks in the country despite containing ancient bristlecone pine trees among the oldest living organisms on earth, the Virginia City historic district preserving the boomtown architecture of the Comstock Lode silver rush, and the eerie landscape of the Black Rock Desert.
