CUBA

Cuba is the largest island in the Caribbean, situated at the intersection of the Atlantic Ocean, the Gulf of Mexico, and the Caribbean Sea. It was a Spanish colony for nearly four centuries before the Spanish-American War of 1898 and has been governed under a single-party socialist system since Fidel Castro’s revolution in 1959, a political structure that has significantly shaped its relationship with the United States and the wider western world.
