ICELAND

Iceland is a Nordic island nation in the North Atlantic Ocean, situated just below the Arctic Circle and straddling the Mid-Atlantic Ridge, the boundary between the Eurasian and North American tectonic plates. It is one of the most geologically active places on earth, with frequent volcanic eruptions, geysers, and hot springs, and was the site of the world’s oldest parliament, the Althing, established by Norse settlers in 930 CE.
