NEW JERSEY

New Jersey has the highest population density of any US state and a history that belies its reputation as merely a corridor between New York and Philadelphia, containing more Revolutionary War battle sites than any other state, including the crossing of the Delaware River that preceded Washington’s pivotal victory at Trenton in 1776. Its 130 miles of Atlantic coastline, the historic resort architecture of Cape May, the Pine Barrens ecosystem, and Thomas Edison’s laboratory complex in West Orange, now a national historic site, give it a more varied visitor profile than its geography might suggest.
