GREENLAND
Greenland is the world’s largest island, situated between the Arctic and Atlantic Oceans and geographically part of the North American continent, though it has been politically associated with Denmark since the 18th century. Approximately 80 percent of its surface is covered by a permanent ice sheet, the second largest body of ice in the world after Antarctica, and its indigenous Inuit population has inhabited the island for at least 4,500 years.
