Nicaragua is the largest country in Central America by area, bordered by Honduras to the north and Costa Rica to the south, with coastline along both the Caribbean Sea and the Pacific Ocean. It contains Lake Nicaragua, the largest lake in Central America and one of the few freshwater lakes in the world known to harbor bull sharks, which access it by navigating the San Juan River from the Caribbean.
