BAHAMAS
The Bahamas is an archipelago nation of roughly 700 islands and more than 2,000 cays situated in the Atlantic Ocean, north of Cuba and southeast of Florida. It was the site of Christopher Columbus’s first landfall in the Americas in 1492, and its shallow, sand-floored waters, known as the Bahama Banks, are among the most studied marine environments in the Atlantic.
