GHANA

Ghana is situated on the Gulf of Guinea, bordered by Côte d’Ivoire, Burkina Faso, and Togo. It was the first sub-Saharan African country to gain independence from colonial rule, achieving it from Britain in 1957, and takes its name from the ancient Ghana Empire, though the modern state’s territory does not overlap with that of its historical namesake.
