VANUATU

Vanuatu is a Pacific archipelago nation consisting of approximately 80 islands situated in the southwestern Pacific Ocean, northeast of New Caledonia and west of Fiji. It was jointly administered by Britain and France as the New Hebrides Condominium from 1906 until independence in 1980, one of the more unusual colonial arrangements in history, and is among the world’s most linguistically dense countries relative to its population, with more than 100 distinct languages spoken across its islands.
