FAROE ISLANDS

The Faroe Islands are an autonomous territory of the Kingdom of Denmark, consisting of 18 islands in the North Atlantic Ocean situated roughly midway between Norway, Iceland, and Scotland. They have their own language, government, and legal system but delegate foreign affairs and defense to Denmark, and their remote position in the North Atlantic has produced a distinct cultural identity that has remained relatively insulated from broader Scandinavian and European influences.
