SURINAME
Suriname is the smallest country in South America by area, situated on the northeastern Atlantic coast and bordered by Guyana, Brazil, and French Guiana. It is the only country in the Americas where Dutch is the official language, a legacy of Dutch colonial rule that lasted from the mid-17th century until independence in 1975, and roughly 90 percent of its territory is covered by tropical rainforest.
