AMERICAN SAMOA
American Samoa is an unincorporated territory of the United States in the southern Pacific Ocean, situated roughly 90 kilometers east of the independent nation of Samoa. It is the only United States territory located south of the equator and its residents, unlike those of Guam, Puerto Rico, and the United States Virgin Islands, are classified as United States nationals rather than citizens, a distinction that limits certain rights while still permitting them to serve in the United States military at notably high rates relative to population.
