What is the Greece Digital Nomad Visa?

The Greece Digital Nomad Visa allows third-party nationals to live and work in the country for up to a year. This can be extended for another year if you wish.

You’ll apply for the Greece Digital Nomad Visa at the same time as submitting an application for the Greece Type D Visa, which allows you to stay in the country for longer than the three months you’re allotted as a tourist, and for a stay of up to 365 days. The Type D visas are given to travelers who are going to work or study in Greece, or who are doing academic research, participating in cultural or religious events, or reuniting with family. Read about Greece Type D Visa requirements here.

The Digital Nomad Visa allows you to stay for up to one year, and can be extended for another year if you wish—it also allows you to work remotely for a company based outside of Greece.

What Are the Requirements and Application Procedures for the Greece Digital Nomad Visa?

To qualify for the Greece Digital Nomad Visa, you must:

  • Be a third-party national (non-EU, EEA, or Schengen—if you fall into this category, you’re already able to move freely within Greece)
  • Prove you have a minimum monthly income of €3,500 after tax
    • If you’re bringing a spouse, this amount increases 20%, and if you have children, the amount increases 15% per child after tax
    • You must provide recent bank statements, employment contract, or other information confirming that your monthly income is sufficient to qualify for the Digital Nomad Visa
  • Prove that you’re a digital nomad planning to do remote work in Greece
    • You can provide an employment contract showing you have a job outside of the country, with a letter from your employer noting that you can perform all of your work remotely
    • If you’re self-employed, you must provide information about your business, such as a business license and details about the type of work you do
    • Note: you cannot work for a Greek company while living under this visa

The visa application is €75, and it can take about a month to receive your visa once approved.

Once you have all of your required documents, you can submit your application to the Greek embassy or consulate in your country—you can bring all of your documents in-person, or you can mail or email them in.
