MINNESOTA
Minnesota contains more than 10,000 lakes, a figure that is actually an undercount of its total number of inland bodies of water, and its Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness on the Canadian border is the most visited wilderness area in the United States. The state also holds significant Native American heritage, with the Mille Lacs Indian Museum and the Pipestone National Monument, where a quarry sacred to multiple Plains tribes has been a source of ceremonial pipe stone for at least 3,000 years.
